Hello, everyone! Here we are at the end of the year. It’s been a crazy one in many ways, but honestly, it’s also been one of the best years of my life. God’s taught me so much over the past twelve months, and I can say with confidence that He’s got everything completely under control. Chaos doesn’t exist to Him; it’s all a bunch of colorful swirls that are making a beautiful masterpiece. It’ll be fun to see the completed product one day and realize that this seemingly ugly blot of black is really an essential part of bringing the picture to life.
As the year winds to a close, I’ve given a good deal of thought to this blog. For a while now, I’ve wanted to do more with it, but I wasn’t quite sure how to begin. But a new year seems like just the time to do some new things. So, I now present to you my updated vision of what I hope to accomplish through this blog in the upcoming year.

Obviously, these are going to stay. I love getting to share bits of what God teaches me throughout the week, and I hope y’all enjoy reading them. Whatever changes I may bring to the blog, these weekly devotionals will continue to make an appearance every Monday morning.
Book Information
I’ve been ridiculously silent on the subject of my books. I wouldn’t be surprised if the majority of you have forgotten that I write fiction. But the original purpose of this blog was actually to communicate information about my books and hopefully gain a band of followers. I have lots of new ideas for the new year, and I hope to be able to share some of them with y’all soon. These probably won’t be consistent posts; I’ll just surprise everyone with an update whenever I have anything worth sharing.
Of Fairy Tales and the Father
In the words of the apostle Paul, I wish you would bear with me in a little foolishness. I love fantasy, both reading it and writing it. The genre offers a temporary escape from the real world to exciting realms of adventure, strange creatures, kings and princesses, and everything in between. But what I really love about fantasy is its ability to communicate spiritual truths in a way that no other genre can quite achieve. Fantasy at its heart is allegorical, in the sense that it uses imaginary elements to explain reality. Two works that do this extremely well are The Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia. I’ve loved both these books since I was quite young, and the more I read them, the more I appreciate the depths of truth revealed in them. So I plan to do a year-long series of posts that delves into these two works—these fairy tales, if you will—and illustrates how the respective authors were able to communicate truth through the fantastical. This is why I write fantasy, and what better way to learn how it’s done than by examining the writings of such masters as Tolkien and Lewis?
