This was such a sweet story! While a little slower than my usual reading choices, there's still much to enjoy in this short tale about coming to terms with the past and understanding your true value.
Characters: I have mixed feelings about Aurelia. She was really sweet, but she did cry a little too much. I was frequently annoyed with her, even as I wanted to hug her and tell her it would all be okay. (Maybe I'm just unsympathetic...)
Wilder was the same. I felt so sorry for him and his tragic backstory, but he took his mistrust issues to an extreme. But it worked for the story, so it's hard to complain too much.
Content: There's some violence in the story, with one of the characters struggling with intense anger issues. Characters are attacked by both humans and wild animals.
A cute romance is woven throughout the story. I was definitely rooting for it! Nothing goes beyond undetailed kisses.
Writing: The plot is slower than my usual preferences, but there's nothing wrong with that. The story flows well, with powerful themes woven throughout it.
Summary: Just because this book wasn't quite my cup of tea doesn't mean there's anything wrong with it. Quite the contrary! It's a sweet little story with much to enjoy. I'd recommend it to readers aged 12+.
